El Corazón de Nuestra Ciudad (The Heart of our City)

The city of New York has many different parts. All the different neighborhoods have their unique charm. In this article, our envoy Joseph Doraid tells you about the Murray Hill neighborhood:

Murray Hill is in the heart of Manhattan. This neighborhood has many excellent restaurants, a fantastic nightlife and many interesting places to visit.

Let’s start by talking about the good restaurants. My two favorites are called Rare Bar & Grill and Sakagura. Rare is an establishment that sells the best burgers in the world. However, Rare is not solely known for his burgers. This place also makes extremely tasty meat, and they also sell many interesting varieties of french fries. Personally, my favorite variety is made with sweet potato, and they are absolutely out of this world. Rare Bar & Grill is between 37th and 38th street on Lexington Avenue. My other favorite restaurant in this neighborhood is called Sakagura. This is an underground Japanese restaurant. The atmosphere of this restaurant is not fantastic, but its food is. The fish they serve is bought fresh at the fish market every morning. In fact, this freshness is felt in every bite. My favorite dish is called the Sake Tekka "Half" Don. This is a dish mainly made of rice. But, above the rice they put a variety of fresh fish, including my favorite, salmon eggs (aka salmon roe). This restaurant is on 43rd Street between the second and third avenues.

The nightlife in Murray Hill is always very interesting. My favorite spot for the nightlife is called the Pod. The Pod is a well-known hotel. Every night, they open their roof to the public for an aperitif. Here you can have drinks and small snacks. Also, while you eat you have good views of the Empire State Building and the East River. The Pod is on 39th Street between 3rd and Lexington avenues.

Murray Hill is full of interesting parts to visit. These include the Grand Central station, the Empire State Building, and the Chrysler Building. Grand Central Station is the most important train station in New York. This station also has a great big room plaza with celestial designs on the ceiling and a very famous central clock. The Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building are the two most important buildings in New York, and surely the two with the most history. Before the construction of the Freedom Tower, the Empire State Building was the tallest building in this city. These two buildings are fundamental parts of the New York skyline.

Because of the Grand Central station, the entire city of New York is also very accessible via the Subway.

For all these reasons, I personally think that my native neighborhood of Murray Hill is the best neighborhood in the entire city.
